Real Madrid is prepping for a major squad overhaul when the summer transfer window rolls around in a few months' time. Despite the squad possessing world-class superstars like Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Thibaut Courtois, reinforcements are still desperately needed, as the club finally opens its eyes to this prospect.

Several departures are expected in the summer, including David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger, Dani Carvajal, and potentially Fran Garcia, Ferland Mendy, and even high-profile names such as Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde. These departures would leave the squad worryingly thin in some aspects, something Real can't afford if they hope to get back to winning trophies year in and year out.

The club has been drawing up their shopping list of players ahead of the summer transfer window, with a strong focus on strengthening the midfield, and finding the perfect replacements for Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who they have failed to replace properly, which has been a major blunder from Los Blancos.

PSG's Vitinha top of Real Madrid's transfer plans

As reported by Ekrem Konur, Real are planning a major squad overhaul in the summer with Vitinha at the top of their list to sort out the midfield issues. AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit is also a strong candidate to arrive in the summer, as well as Nico Paz and Endrick returning from loan to strengthen a squad that's struggled this season.

Vitinha is the number one midfield target this coming summer as they view him as the perfect replacement for Kroos, the club has been searching for for close to two years now.

The 25-year-old finished third in last year's Ballon d'Or race and starred under Luis Enrique last season. He made 32 appearances across competitions, scoring six goals and providing 10 assists.

Unfortunately, the Portuguese player is under contract with PSG until 2029, making any move for him nearly impossible. As a result, the club have alternatives in mind.

The 20-year-old Dutch midfielder Smit is another player strongly considered by the club. Many believe his profile is almost a spot-on replacement for Kroos, and given his young age and Real's aim to make the squad younger, he seems like a sure-fire signing this summer.

Endrick and Nico Paz returning from their loans at Lyon and Como respectively aren't really ground breaking news as many already expected the two youngsters to be back with Los Blancos as both are expected to take on bigger roles in the team next season.
